MILEPOST ONE: Full-Tuition

Milepost One is also a full-tuition scholarship program for students eager to get on the road to a Warren Wilson degree but concerned about making it financially possible.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS: $7,000-17,000 per year

Our academic scholarships include the Trustee, Presidential, Dean’s, and Opportunity scholarships. Based exclusively on academic performance, including research projects and rigor of curriculum, our academic scholarships celebrate the academic accomplishments of our students. As a test-optional institution, test scores are never used to determine scholarship awards.

WOODBURY SCHOLARSHIP: $5,000 per year

The Woodbury Foundation was established in 1990 by Mrs. Woodbury (Christiana) Ransom, a long-time friend of Warren Wilson College. Following her death in 2001, the Foundation established the Woodbury Scholarship fund at the College in 2003. The scholarship is based on merit or need, and recipients are nominated by their admissions counselor and chosen annually by a special committee.

HONOR SCHOLARSHIP: $4,000 year

Awarded to those students who best represent the mission of the college through their overall high school performance and notable achievements. The most prestigious of our scholarships, students must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, leadership qualities, and commitment to Warren Wilson College values to be eligible.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP: $4,000 per year

Awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity or commitment to their community, including involvement in some form of volunteer activity. Students may also be considered who have excelled in extra-curricular activities, student governance, gap-year programs, semester schools, Outward Bound and more.

SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARSHIP: $4,000 per year

Awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in both awareness and action towards a healthier planet.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS: $5,000/$2,500

Algernon Sydney Sullivan Scholarship: $5,000 per year

Awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity or commitment to their community, including involvement in volunteer activity. Students may also be considered who have excelled in extra-curricular activities, student governance, gap-year programs, semester schools, Outward Bound and more. The scholarship is based on merit or need, and recipients are nominated by their admissions counselor and chosen annually by a special committee.

Richard Hettrick Scholarship: $2,500 per year

Awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity or commitment to their community. This scholarship is based on need. Recipients are nominated by their admissions counselor andapplicants are asked to write a short essay reflecting on how their continued education might enable them to meet the community needs they will encounter as they seek to answer their own life’s calling.

SUSTAINABILITY SCHOLARSHIPS: up to $4,000 per year

Joel B. Adams Jr. Sustainability Scholarship:This scholarship was established by individuals in honor of Joel B. Adams, Jr., former chair of the Warren Wilson College Board of Trustees. Scholarship funds will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at Warren Wilson College to study Environmental Studies or a related field and who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in both awareness and action towards a healthier planet.

Louis Eubanks Environmental Studies Honors Scholarship:Louis Eubanks established this scholarship to provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate students. The scholarship was initiated to support students with honors-level achievement in Environmental Studies with additional consideration for those students interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
